Teacher in Charge System JLS provides a Teacher in Charge (TIC) for each class. The TIC is responsible for all the students in their classes and ILP.(Individualized Learning Program) The TIC will advise students on their direction, give them strategies for study and also file students’ profiles and assessments for reference. When students feel close to their TIC, they study more effectively, and are able to improve their English skills quickly. 2. Individualized Learning Program Students have interviews with their TIC at least twice a month and discuss their learning aims and Study Plans using 4 forms: Needs Analysis, Self-Reflection 1 & 2, and Assessment Report.. Through these interviews students can see their progress become more aware of the areas they need to focus on for continued improvement. 3. Activity Volunteer Program © JLS provides students various opportunities to join the Canadian community. Students can both use and improve their English skills by volunteering with different organizations and various communities. This not only helps them make new friends, but volunteering looks excellent on a résumé. JLS supports students by helping them find volunteer positions. A key purpose and reason to volunteer in Vancouver is that it is the best way for foreign students to have contact with native speakers and get insight into Canadian culture. 4. Best Facility and Location JLS’ modern facilities in Vancouver boasts 35 personal computers, classrooms with TVs and overhead projectors that allow students to maximize their learning and achieve a high rate of success. We are just minutes away from the Granville SkyTrain Station and located just above London Drugs on Georgia and Granville. Of course as an added bonus, we’ll be seconds away from the new Robson SkyTrain Station due to be completed as early as 2009. 5. Official TOEFL / TOEIC / Cambridge Testing Venue Are you interested in taking the TOEFL??, TOEIC?? or Cambridge?? exams? After completing our TOEFL program, you can register online through ETS?? and take the iBT TOEFL test right here at JLS College. You will be in the same comfortable environment in which you took the TOEFL program and the added the confidence will benefit you while you take the exam. As with the TOEFL, if you complete the JLS TOEIC program, upon completion you can register to write the official test here at JLS. 6. TESL Canada Approved Teachers - Qualified, Experienced & Kind The teachers at JLS College have completed courses which have been approved by TESL Canada?? which means that you’ll be taught by some of the most qualified teachers in Vancouver, with a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience. In addition, you’ll find that the teachers at JLS are very approachable, kind and helpful and committed to the students’ needs. 7. Regular Counseling Sessions with Counselors and Teachers Throughout their stay at JLS College, students meet both their teachers and their counselors (in their first language) on a monthly basis. During their meetings, they discuss topics ranging from their experiences in Vancouver , life at JLS, to goals they wish they achieve during their time here We welcome students who have graduated from JLS to come back and visit their teachers and counselors just to chat or for help with any issues that they may have. 8. Internship Guaranteed After Business English Course & Career Counseling Students who have successfully completed a minimum of 8 weeks in our Business English Program can join an internship for a minimum of 8 weeks (maximum equal to the same amount of weeks they studied at JLS). The internship coordinator helps internship students with a 1 to 1 meeting to discuss their interview skills, create a resume and set up an interview with a host company. JLS has over 40 host companies in Vancouver. Students can experience an English working atmosphere and build their work skills. The internship experience is a valuable way to help students to find a job in their own country. 9. MOS, Microsoft, Adobe, Linux Test Centre JLS College offers students and the general public a chance to write any computer or information technology certificate that is offered by Pearson VUE. As an authorized testing centre, students can write exams such Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Adobe Expert, Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) and other computer related exams. 10. Strict English Only/Attendance policy All students at JLS College must adhere to our English Only Policy. Activity volunteer program으로 방과후까지 학생 관리: 어학연수의 성패는 방과후 시간활용에 달려있습니다.
